CID chiefs agree on setting up 9 branch secretariats

Hyderabad: CID chiefs of southern and neighbouring states on Saturday agreed to set up branch secretariat at nine places in order to exchange all criminal intelligence and to have real time coordination and cooperation in various operations pertaining to breaking organised crime networks.

A decision to this effect was taken at the two-day CID chiefs' conference in Hyderabad and it was agreed to set up branch secretariat at Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Pune, Cuttack, Puducherry, Goa, Raipur and at Hyderabad, Additional DG (AP-CID) S V Ramana Murthy said.

The proposed branch secretariat will help in operations pertaining to breaking organised crime networks, fake Indian currency note gangs, cyber offenders, narcotic offenders, video pirates, human traffickers, immigration offenders, white collar offenders and those involved in other grave criminal cases, which have interstate ramifications, the top CID official said.

One of the important concerns expressed by the member states was the 'Victim Compensation Scheme'. The member states have pledged to adopt a victim-centric approach and ensure institutionalisation of Victim Compensation Fund with the help of legal services authorities in the member states supported by the government, he said.

It was also decided to launch massive rescue operations in Human Trafficking matters across the states and the CID chiefs have expressed their unstinted support to the rescue teams and also decided to help the member states in the legal matters that arise out of such operations.

In order to bring the criminal gangs to justice, the finger prints bureaus will be connected with the states, he said.

Mr Murthy further said a mechanism which has inter-state ramifications, shall be formulated to deal Multi-level Marketing and Money Circulation Schemes MLM/MCS cases, so that the culprits will be brought to book at the earliest.

It is reliably learnt that the business of such activities runs into more than Rs 1 lakh crore all over India and over 1 crore people are affected by this business, he added.

Several complaints regarding vanishing companies have been received from the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and in the 18 cases where ROC reported against vanishing companies in Andhra Pradesh, the total misappropriated amount is to the tune of over Rs 74 crore, the CID official said.
