Woman killed as oxygen cylinder in ambulance bursts

Thiruvananthapuram: A woman died and her husband suffered serious burns when an oxygen cylinder in an ambulance in which they were taking their grandchild to a hospital burst and the vehicle was engulfed in flames at Kallara-Pangode in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Suhra Beevi (57). Her husband Abdul Wahid has been admitted to Medical College Hospital with burn injuries.

They were taking their two-year-old grandchild Ashina to the hospital who accidentally consumed kerosene.

The child and her parents escaped unscathed as they came out of the vehicle before it caught fire, police said.
