A female B.Tech student was shot at on Tuesday when she tried to stop two bike-borne men from stealing her bag containing Rs 40,000 cash.
The girl, a third year B.Tech student, had withdrawn Rs 50,000 cash from an ATM booth. She gave Rs 10,000 to a friend and kept the remaining amount in her bag, police said.
The two girls were walking towards Kaushalaya hostel in Knowledge Park when the bike-borne youth came and tried to snatch the victim's bag near Gurdwara Road, they said.
When the girl resisted, one of them shot at her and she suffered a bullet injury in her leg. They fled from the spot with the bag which contained Rs 40,000.
The girl was admitted to Kailash hospital, where her condition was stated to be stable, police said.
A case has been registered and a search has been launched for the accused, they added.
