Hyderabad: An action team member of the CPI (Maoist) was killed in an exchange of fire with police in
Andhra Pradesh's Warangal district late on Wednesday night.
A special police party was on a combing operation in the Kompelli-Asnanpalli area under Bhupalpalli mandal in Warangal district when it chanced upon the Maoist team, said the police.
"On seeing the police party, the Maoists opened fire and in retaliation our men too opened fire. An action team member of the Maoists was killed in the incident," said a senior police official.
Two other members of the Maoists, however, gave a slip to the police.
Police suspect the deceased to be G Swamy alias Ramesh.
A 9 mm pistol has been recovered from the scene of encounter, added the police official.
