US aid worker Peter Kassig's parents said they were "heartbroken" by the death of their son, after his beheading was shown in a video Sunday.
"We are heartbroken to learn that our son has lost his life as a result of his love for the Syrian people," Ed and Paula Kassig said in a statement posted on their Twitter handle @kassigfamily.
