2010 Warmest Year

India experienced 536 heatwave days this summer, the highest in 14 years, with the northwestern region recording its warmest June last month since 1901, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.

The year 2010 is turning out to be the warmest ever in recorded history, with the first four months reporting an average temperature of 13.3 degrees Celsius which is 0.69 degrees above the 20th century average.

2010 is likely to be the world's warmest year on record surpassing 1998, the current warmest year in the 160-year record, the British Met Office has predicted.
