A panda who rose to fame as the mascot of the 11th Asian Games held in 1990, will celebrate her 35th birthday - the equivalent of over 100 human years - on Saturday in Fuzhou, capital of China's Fujian province.

The sprawling Games Village in Thiruvananthapuram, which won wide applause from athletes and sports officials during the recently concluded 35th National Games, is likely to be retained as such, as part of the state government's legacy plan.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said sportspersons from the state who win medals at the 35th National Games will be offered government jobs.

The 35th National Games, to be hosted by Kerala from January 31 to February 14, will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu, it was officially announced today.

Sachin Tendulkar led thousands of runners on the streets of Thiruvananthapuram as part of 'Run Kerala Run,' a promotional event for the 35th National Games that kicks off in various venues of the state on January 31.

Run Kerala Run, curtain raiser to the 35th National Games, organised by the Kerala government, witnessed the participation of thousands of supporters and Sachin Tendulakar fans.

Sachin Tendulkar is the brand ambassador of the 35th National Games in Kerala.

Setting the stage for the 35th National Games starting on January 31, thousands of people drawn from different walks of life joined the "Run Kerala Run", flagged off by Governor P Sathasivam in the presence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in Thiruvananthapuram.

Billed as one of the biggest mass runs ever held in the country, over one crore people including cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, are expected to participate in 'Run Kerala Run', held as a prelude to the 35th National Games across the state on Tuesday.

A photo exhibition in honour of Sachin Tendulkar is being organised as part of the 'Run Kerala Run', a marathon to be held across the state on January 20 to create awareness about the 35th National Games which the state hosts.

Kerala Governor Justice P Sathasivam will flag off the state-wide 'Run Kerala Run', the mass run organised as a prelude to 35th edition of the National Games, in front of Secretariat on January 20.
