3d-printed Guide

Nerve damage is often permanent, but a team of US researchers has developed a first-of-its-kind, 3D-printed guide that helps regrow both the sensory and motor functions of complex nerves after injury.

Incorporated into the guide were 3D-printed chemical cues to promote both motor and sensory nerve regeneration.

"Our study demonstrated that if you use [a 3D-printed] model and hold the skull in your hand, there is no better way to plan the procedure."
