Former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, convicted in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, has moved an application before the Delhi High Court seeking time till January 31 to surrender. The 73-year-old has told the court that he has three children and eight grandchildren and needs to settle matters related to his property.

A local court in Jaipur awarded life imprisonment to two men convicted for the 2007 Ajmer Dargah bomb blast in which three persons were killed. On March 8, the special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court had convicted Bhavesh Patel, Devendra Gupta and Sunil Joshi, who is dead now.

Lakhan Bhaiya encounter case: 13 Mumbai cops, 8 others awarded life sentence

A Mumbai sessions court today awarded life sentence to 21 people, including 13 Mumbai Police personnel who were convicted in the 2006 encounter of Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya. While three policemen are convicted of murder, the other ten are convicted of aiding and abetting the encounter.
