8 Policemen Dead In Up

The death of Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey in an encounter while allegedly trying to escape police custody and the killing of eight cops by him will be investigated by a panel headed by a former Supreme Court judge. The Supreme Court today asked for a report within two months.

Wanted criminal Vikas Dubey's close aide Amar Dubey, who was also involved in the ambush last week in which eight policemen were killed, was chased down and shot dead by the police in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

Eight policemen in Uttar Pradesh were shot dead early Friday at a village in Kanpur where they had gone to arrest a criminal wanted for murder. The policemen arrived to indiscriminate firing from all sides by the criminal and his associates.
