The country's civil aviation regulator DGCA, on Monday asked IndiGo not to use A320 Neo planes fitted with ratt and Whitney (PW) engines that have already been used for over 3,000 hours, or face grounding of aircraft, officials said.

The government will issue new safety protocols for airlines operating Airbus A320neo aircraft fitted with Pratt & Whitney engines, the civil aviation secretary said, after temporary grounding orders affected the planes last year.

Budget carrier IndiGo, which has been grappling with Pratt and Whitney engine issue, today said some of its Airbus A320 Neo aircraft have been grounded "proactively" due to "non-availability" of spare engines from the manufacturer.
