Adani Group Repays Loans

Adani Group today said it has repaid loans aggregating $2.65 billion to complete a prepayment programme to cut overall leverage.

The announcement comes within days of the group saying it has pre-paid Rs 7,374 crore (about USD 902 billion) loans that were taken pledging shares in four group companies.

The Adani Group plans to prepay or repay share-backed loans worth between $690 million and $790 million by the end of March this year, two people with knowledge of the matter said.

Adani group firm Adani Ports & SEZ paid Rs 1,500 crore loan and promised to repay more as the embattled conglomerate mapped a comeback strategy after a sellout triggered by a damning report by US-based Hindenburg Research.

Adani group is looking to repay the bridge loan with cash this month, the report said, citing people aware of the matter, adding that the loan had a tenor of six months and was part of a larger $5.25 billion financing package.
