Only 9 per cent of the 1,352 candidates contesting in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections are women while 18 per cent have declared criminal cases against themselves, the ADR said in a new report.

Of 57 newly elected Rajya Sabha members, 23 (almost 40 per cent) have declared criminal cases against them in their poll affidavits, according to ADR-National Election Watch report.

Of the 56 ministers who took oath on Thursday and are part of either the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha, 51 are crorepatis and 22 have declared criminal cases against themselves, according to election watchdog Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
