Afghan Student In Delhi

Three students from Afghanistan have written to the Jawaharlal Nehru University's vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar urging him to ease the process for Afghan students to get admission in PhD courses.

The Delhi University administration will support students from Afghanistan enrolled in the university, said a statement from the Dean, Students' Welfare on Thursday.

A 20-year-old Afghan student who made it to the last flight that Air India flew from Kabul on Sunday told NDTV that he considered himself "very lucky" to have made it to the aircraft just as the Taliban took the country's capital.

IIT Delhi has also provided helpline numbers and email ID for students in Afghanistan to contact the institute. These are -- +91-11-26591713, +91-9811091942 and intloff@admin.iitd.ac.in.

Several students from Afghanistan studying at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are not willing to return to their country and want to extend their student visas.
