Before India entered into the elite club with the Thursday launch of Agni-V missile, only five countries - the US, Russia, China, France and Britain - had the capability to launch nuclear capable long range missiles.

India on Thursday said it was closely watching the Chinese military build-up and taking all necessary measures to shape its response.

India's indigenously developed nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile has been successfully test-fired. The missile was launched from Wheeler Island off Orissa's coast.
