A man, accused in a bank robbery case, was killed in an encounter with police here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday after he escaped from custody while being taken to his accomplice's house to recover weapons, officials said.

A gang of armed robbers struck at a bank branch here as soon as it opened for business on Friday and fled with over Rs.11 lakh, police said.
