An internal probe by the military has found serious errors by the Israeli navy while preparing and carrying out the deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in which nine Turkish activists were killed, sparking a global condemnation of the Jewish state, a media report said on Monday.

Israel's cabinet on Sunday gave its approval to ease the three-year land blockade of the Gaza Strip to allow all "civilian" goods into the enclave in a bid to quell mounting international criticism following a bloody sea raid on an aid flotilla bound for the Hamas-run territory.

The bloody raid by Israel's naval commandos on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla last month suffered from "serious defects", including inadequate preparation and lack of sufficient intelligence, an internal probe has concluded.

Israeli warships were tailing a Gaza-bound aid boat on Saturday just a few dozen miles (kilometers) from the blockaded Palestinian territory, determined not to let it reach Gaza despite international outrage over Israel's deadly takeover of another aid ship earlier this week.
