Green Court Fines 4 Firms Rs 286 cr For Mumbai's "Gas Chamber-Like" Air

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has held four companies, including government-owned oil majors BPCL and HPCL, responsible for creating "gas chamber-like condition" in Mumbai's Mahul, Ambapada and Chembur areas and directed them to pay Rs 286.2 crore for the damaged caused to the environment.

After Paris Climate Deal, India Agrees To Cut Greenhouse Gases Used In ACs

India on Saturday was among the 197 nations to sign a binding agreement in Rwanda's capital Kigali to phase out the use of hydrofluorocarbon or (HFC) gases, primarily found in air conditioners. The deal comes two weeks after India ratified the Paris agreement on climate change.

CCI clears investment worth $2.7 billion in oil and gas sector

The Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) eased the conditions imposed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 31 oil and gas blocks. Out of the 31 blocks cleared, 13 blocks belong to Reliance Industries-BP (RIL-BP), 15 blocks are of government-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC). The remaining 3 blocks belong to Australian firm Santos Cairn India.
