Air India on Sunday welcomed its first narrow-body aircraft - Airbus A320neo, which landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport from the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France.

Airbus said Friday that it had secured an order for 32 A320neo planes from Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific, as the airline expands its flights to the Chinese mainland and elsewhere in Asia.

The Tata group will buy 250 aircraft from Airbus in the world's largest aviation deal in history. The deal includes 40 A350 wide-body long-range aircraft and 210 narrow-body ones, believed to be variants of the A320neo family, for Air India.

IndiGo is the world's biggest customer for Airbus SE's best-selling A320neo jets, while SpiceJet is among the top buyers of Boeing Co.'s now-grounded 737 Max planes.

At present, there are 39 aircraft in Vistara's fleet comprising 19 A320neo aircraft, 13 A320ceo aircraft and seven Boeing B737-800NG aircraft.

GoAir delayed or canceled dozens of flights this week due to bad weather and disruptions from nationwide demonstrations against a new citizenship law.

Low cost carrier IndiGo is Airbus' biggest client for A320neo planes, and while the United Technologies' P&W engines are fuel efficient there have been issues since they entered service in 2016, forcing the airline to ground its planes several times.

The groundings have cost IndiGo, which last month posted its biggest-ever quarterly loss after being forced to lease aircraft.

This will take IndiGo's total A320neo family aircraft orders to 730 making it the world's biggest customer for these planes.

CFM will provide the 1LEAP-1A engines to power 280 A320neo and A321neo jetliners already on order from Airbus by the Delhi-based budget carrier.
