Health officials are investigating whether the cause of the illness was a bacterium in the food or a very contagious gastroenteritis virus.

European aircraft maker Airbus said on Tuesday it is planning to cut around 15,000 jobs worldwide, 11 percent of its total workforce, in response to the coronavirus which it described as the "gravest crisis" the industry has seen.

In the United Kingdom, the period of furlough for about 2,200 Airbus workers will start on July 20 and end on Aug. 9, the statement said.

European aviation giant Airbus has fired 16 employees over a case that had prompted Germany to open a probe into suspected industrial espionage, German media reported Sunday.

Airbus said it will carry on with test flights of its A400M military transport plane despite a crash in Spain of one of the aircraft that killed four employees who were honoured Monday with a moment of silence at the company's factories.

The airline, which has been grounded since October 2012 following unrest by employees and a subsequent disruption in its flight schedules, plans to resume operations with 5 Airbus and 2 ATR flights.

Costs involved in fixing new 787 Dreamliners are still unknown. Boeing is still building five Dreamliners a month but isn't delivering them to customers.
