Vodafone Idea (Vi) price hike was announced on Friday, shortly after rivals Reliance Jio and Airtel both unveiled higher prices for their prepaid recharge plans and postpaid plans. The new mobile tariffs will go into effect on July 4 and both Vi prepaid and postpaid customers will have to pay higher prices to access the operator's services.

Vodafone Idea on Thursday reported that its Q2 loss had widened to Rs. 7,596 crore on the back of a decline in subscribers and higher expenses for the telecom service provider. The operator said its subscriber base declined to 234.4 million from 240.4 million in the first quarter, while total expenses rose 10 percent to Rs. 18,302 crore.
