A former student from a US university was recently sentenced to seven and a half years behind bars for hiding financing to the Islamic terrorist group, Al-Qaeda. She was ordered to spend 10 years of "supervised release" following the prison term.

One of 12 inmates who broke out of a county jail in Alabama over the weekend remained at large on Monday, as the local sheriff said the escapees used peanut butter to disguise the numbers on a cell door and fool guards.

Roger Simpson said he looked down the road and saw a little girl running outside her home but didn't give it another thought. Police, however, said the man witnessed a murder in progress.
