The Drug Controller General of India has told a pharmaceutical company to recall one of its products, Ozurdex Intravitreal Implant, a steroid eye implant for macular edema, after the company admitted that a silicone particle has been detected in it.

The tablets are generic version of Allergan Sales LLC's Norco tablets in the same strengths and the product will be launched shortly, Lupin said.

Delaware-based Chase Pharmaceuticals Corporation, in which the company's UK arm Cipla (EU) Ltd has 16.7 per cent stake, has been acquired by a subsidiary of Allergan plc, Cipla said in a statement.

Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Wednesday said it has successfully completed the $350-million (around Rs 2,300 crore) acquisition of eight abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) in the US from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and an affiliate of Allergan plc.
