The 45-year-old son of a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance, police said today.

Amar Chand, the husband of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi Amar Chand allegedly attempted to escape on Wednesday from the CBI questioning centre here when confronted with some disturbing questions by the sleuths regarding the case of alleged abduction.

With the Rajasthan High Court directing it to expedite its probe into Bhanwari Devi's disappearance, the Centre Bureau of Investigation is set to question her husband, Amar Chand Nat. He has alleged that Bhanwari Devi, missing since September 1, was abducted by associates of former water resources minister Mahipal Maderna.
