Andhra Pradesh Economic Package

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today held a meeting in Vijayawada with his cabinet colleagues over a likely announcement from the Central government on either the grant of special category status to the state or a special economic package for AP.

Opposition parties held protests throughout Andhra Pradesh on Friday against the ceremonial inauguration of its new capital city Amaravati where Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced no new economic packages nor declared a special status for the state, disappointing many.

As per the proposal, the state electricity boards of Jharkhand, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh would be allowed to convert their outstanding loans till March 2013 into bonds as part of an amendment to the discom debt restructuring package.
