Southern Railway has cancelled a number of trains between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for tomorrow due to the agitation by some workers of Andhra Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation over the Telangana issue.

Slamming the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh over the prevailing power shortage, main Opposition Telugu Desam and TRS held protests at several places in the state on Tuesday. Demanding that the government improve the power supply situation in the state, TRS MLAs organised a protest near the headquarters of APTRANSCO.

The State Government has transferred 13 officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), but has given new postings to only ten of them. Transport Commissioner Hiralal Samariya has been transferred and posted as Chairman and Managing Director of Power Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited.

The Ministry on March 2 issued orders that 2.5 million cubic meters per day of gas, which state-owned GAIL India gets from KG-D6 fields, be diverted to Transmission Corp of Andhra Pradesh Ltd, sources privy to the development said.
