Social activist Anna Hazare on Friday began ''maun vrat'' (vow of silence) at his native Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, seeking speedy justice in the Nirbhaya case and in cases of heinous crimes against women.

"The thought of giving up on my 'maun vrat' is playing in my mind. In the next 3 to 4 days I might end my 'maun vrat'. Veteran social worker Anna Hazare was on Saturday advised complete rest for at least a week following high blood pressure and back pain, his personal physician said here. The physician has also advised him to reconsider his decision of continuing with the vow of silence (maun-vrat).
