In a setback to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), its outgoing MP AP Jithender Reddy on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after he was denied ticket for next month's elections.

Upset with the alleged misbehaviour by local BJP MLA Roshanlal Verma, a Shahjahanpur district hospital doctor submitted his resignation from his post, prompting other government doctors to threaten mass resignation if the legislator does not tender a written apology.

Andhra Pradesh was told earlier this month by its government that it is 17,500 crores in debt, which means there's little wriggle room to help farmers with loan waivers or to upgrade infrastructure in cities. But the broke state's law-makers aren't being left wanting - 175 members of the legislative assembly have been gifted an iPhone6 each.
