Apollo Hospitals has denied a British media report claiming the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi is at the centre of an international "cash for kidneys" racket that sees poor people from Myanmar sell their organs for Rs 80-90 lakh each.

Two senior doctors of Apollo Hospital have been questioned in connection with the kidney trading racket unearthed in the national capital last month, police said today.

Around four-five doctors of Indraprastha Apollo hospital will be summoned for questioning in relation to a kidney racket busted on June 2, police said on Friday.

A Delhi court on Monday denied bail to a 22-year-old kidney recipient, arrested in connection with an organ racket recently busted at a private hospital in New Delhi, saying he had knowingly participated in the transplantation process which prima facie appeared to be a "pre-planned criminal conspiracy".

A week after the illegal kidney racket came to light, the Delhi Police today arrested the personal assistant (PA) of a senior Apollo hospital nephrologist, who played a pivotal role in carrying out illegal transplants. Over 12 people have been arrested so far in the case.

Three nephrologists at Delhi's Apollo Hospital are likely to be questioned by Delhi Police in connection with the transplant surgeries performed under their supervision which were facilitated by the kidney racket in which 10 persons have been arrested so far.
