Days ago, a 'feminist remix' of A R Rahman's iconic song Urvashi Urvashi was posted online. The video swiftly began going viral and has collected over 1.7 lakh views on Facebook so far. However, artistes featured in the song, have also ended up becoming recipients to some unwanted abuse online.

An elated Mr Rahman wrote on Twitter: With the CM of West Bengal, The Prince of Kolkata & The King of Soccer. In a Facebook post two days ago, Rahman dismissed the fatwa and defended the right to religious freedom and tolerance. He wrote: "What if I had the good fortune of meeting Allah and he asked me on the Judgement day, 'I gave you faith, talent, money, fame and health... why did you not do music for my beloved Muhammad (sals) film?"

"I didn't direct or produce the film I just did the music. My spiritual experiences of working on the film are very personal and I would prefer not to share these. My decision to compose the music for the film was made in good faith and with no intention of causing offence," AR Rahman wrote in a Facebook post
