Social media intermediaries have serious obligations and responsibilities under Indian laws, said Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Wednesday, adding that the failure to observe due diligence could have consequences. He said that the government wanted all intermediaries to feel comfortable but they should also meet their responsibilities.

According to the edit history of Mr Singh's Wikipedia page, an unregistered user replaced the words "India" with "Khalistan" at several locations on the profile, but these changes were undone within 15 minutes by Wikipedia editors.
