Assam Passes Gst

Assam Assembly today passed the Goods and Services Tax Bill, paving the way for introduction of single taxation system by eliminating levies by multiple authorities. The Assam Goods and Services Tax Bill, 2017, which had been tabled on Monday, was passed unanimously by the Assembly in a three-day special session to pass the bill.

It is Assam after all that will make its way into history books as the first state to ratify the constitutional amendment bill that enables the Goods and Services Tax, India's biggest tax reform.

Assam on Friday became the first state to ratify the Constitution amendment bill related with the Goods and Services Tax, following its passage by both houses of parliament this month.
