A German court on Tuesday handed ex-Audi boss Rupert Stadler a suspended sentence of one year and nine months and a fine of 1.1 million euros ($1.2 million) over his role in the "dieselgate" fraud scandal.

Former Audi Chief Executive Rupert Stadler's request to be freed from custody has been rejected, the Munich court of appeal said on Monday.

Audi will now unveil the e-tron Electric SUV in the US instead of at the Audi Summit in Brussels due to the arrest of CEO Rupert Stadler in the VW diesel emissions scandal.

Bram Schot joined the Volkswagen group in 2011 after having worked as president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Italia. He has been Audi board member for sales and marketing since last September.
