Auto Driver Returns Bag

An auto-driver found a bag containing gold ornaments and returned it to the couple who had lost it.

An autorickshaw driver on Wednesday helped return gold and cash-filled trolley bag to its owner, who had forgotten it at the gate of the Agra Cantt Railway Station, the police said.

The police have felicitated a 44-year-old auto rickshaw driver for returning a passenger's bag containing Rs 55,000 cash in Maharashtra's Nagpur, an official said today. Pleased with his honesty, the passenger gave him Rs 5,000 as a gift.

When an auto-driver found five lakhs left behind in his three-wheeler, he knew exactly what to do. K Panduranga drove straight to the police station and handed over the bag full of money. Senior Bangalore police officials have given him a letter of appreciation. Their gratitude is not a patch on that of the passenger who had forgotten the cash.
