Autorickshaws Strike In Mumbai

Taxi and autorickshaw drivers under Jai Bhagwan Taxi Rickshaw Sanghatana today announced they would go on indefinite strike from August 29 in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai demanding the state government to regulate operation of cab aggregators such as Uber and Ola.

Thousands of autorickshaws went off the roads in Mumbai suburbs today to protest the operations of private taxi aggregators and the rise in permit fees.

Transport services in Mumbai remained unaffected today, as suburban train services, autorickshaws and BEST city buses were operating normally despite the one-day nationwide strike called by central trade unions.
