Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expects Legislative Council Chairman Awadesh Narayan Singh, who is from the BJP, to quit on his own after 55 MLAs of the new Grand Alliance moved a no-confidence motion against Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha.

With the reports of two more deaths from malaria, the death toll of the disease rose to 52 since its outbreak about 20 days ago, state Health Minister said today.

Malaria has assumed epidemic proportions in large parts of Tripura, as at least 41 people including 31 children have died of the disease in the past fortnight, state Health Minister Badal Chowdhury said today.
