The Pakistan Human Rights Commission has said that Sarabjit Singh's lawyer, Awais Sheikh, and his family have been receiving threatening letters and calls from the Taliban. The commission has urged chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab province to provide security to Mr Sheikh.

As Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who is on death row in Pakistan, continues to be in deep coma and on ventilator support at a hospital in Lahore after being brutally attacked by a group of prisoners on Friday, his daughter told NDTV that it was a premeditated attempt to murder her father and that authorities were involved.

Indian prisoner to be released from Pakistani jail after 30 years

Surjeet Singh, an Indian national, has been serving a sentence in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore for over 30 years on charges of spying. However, according to his lawyer, Singh is expected to be freed within three months. The Punjab government yesterday told the Lahore High Court that Surjeet had completed his term and would be released.
