"People are very excited. We were trending (on social media) in the US all day even before the trailer came out. This is a part of history, but it is Sanjay sir's fictional version of the story of Bajirao and Mastani. It'd be wonderful to see how people respond to it internationally," said Priyanka Chopra

Interacting with the reporters through video conference in Mumbai, Priyanka Chopra said: "Bajirao Mastani film is based on a book called Rau and that is the author's version of what happened in Bajirao and Mastani's love story. So look at it as a beautiful rendition, an epic saga told from the vision of the director"

"As I could not withstand the insult to Maratha history, Maratha ethos and Indian culture, I am making this appeal to you that the Maharashtra government pay attention, review the entire film, and with proper inquiry arrive at an appropriate decision," Prasadrao Peshwa said in a letter to Devendra Fadnavis

The actress was photographed with Rajmata Padmini Devi wife of Jaipur's last maharaja, late Brigadier Bhawani Singh, and with their daughter, princess Diya Kumari. Actor Ranveer Singh, who has decided to go bald for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani and devote a year to the movie, says if the "risk" works, it could go down in "history" of Indian cinema".
