A male tusker was found dead allegedly due to an electric current in Devpur area under Kasdol Upvan Division in Chhattisgarh's Baloda Bazar district, a forest official said.

With allegations of corruption in procurement of rice for the Public Distribution System or PDS in Chattisgarh, the state congress today launched a padyatra from Baloda bazar, about 90 km from the state capital Raipur, to raise awareness over the scam and put pressure on the state government.

The doctor who conducted sterilisation surgeries on 83 women at Bilaspur's Nemi Chand Jain hospital has been taken into police custody. Doctor RK Gupta was taken into custody from the Baloda Bazar area, nearly 70 km from Bilaspur, last night.
