An alleged criminal taken for a psychiatric evaluation to a hospital in Bengaluru opened fire inside the premises today. The man was injured in the police firing that followed. He later succumbed to his injuries.

An 11-year-old girl suffered 95 per cent burns after she was set on fire by some unidentified persons while she was on her way to school today, police said. The girl's father said three people came, poured kerosene on the child and set her on fire. She has been admitted to the government-run Victoria Hospital in the city.
