Bangladesh Arrested Smugglers

As many as 23 Bangladeshi smugglers were arrested by BSF from Samarganja in South Tripura district on Tuesday, an official said.

A woman trying to smuggle 27 gold bars from Bangladesh was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. The seized gold bars weigh over 2 kg and are worth nearly Rs 1.29 crore.

The Border Security Force or BSF has seized 276 cattle at the zero line of the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya during the past five days. However, no arrests could be made as the smugglers fled in jungles.

Bangladesh police have arrested a human trafficking "godfather" in a fresh crackdown on smugglers amid fears of a resumption of the racket that sparked a regional migrant crisis earlier this year, an officer said today.
