Even before summers, when wells run too dry to draw water from pitchers, villages in Marathwada are lowering its very children into the wells by ropes. This is a grim tale from a village, ironically a part of the constituency of Maharashtra's Rural Welfare Minister, Pankaja Munde.

Maharashtra: Parli power plant shuts down after severe water crisis

All six units of the Parli thermal power plant in Beed district of Maharashtra have been shut down because of severe water shortage in the Marathwada region. The plant used to receive water from the Khadka dam but the supply was stopped as the water level in the dam has almost dried up.
