The wife of notorious sandalwood smuggler Veerappan has urged the government that four associates of her husband, who are on death row in a landmine blast case, be spared from execution. The mercy petition of the four men has been rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee. They are expected to be executed in the next 14 days, sources have said.
