Ten months after its landslide victory in the West Bengal assembly polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress on Wednesday steamrolled the entire opposition in the civic elections, bagging 93 of 107 municipalities.

The BJP Tuesday took control of the Bhatpara Municipality, its first civic body in West Bengal, after a majority of its Trinamool Congress councillors switched over to the BJP days after the Lok Sabha polls results are announced.

In a major boost for ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of next year's assembly polls, the party today scored landslide victory in violence-marred elections to Bidhannagar and Asansol Municipal Corporations and wrested Bally civic body from the Left Front.

The Mamata magic remains intact a year after she powered a historic victory against the Left in West Bengal and became the state's Chief Minister.
