A court in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Friday sentenced four persons to life imprisonment in connection with one of the worst hooch tragedies that left 172 people dead in 2011.

At least eight persons died and four persons fell sick allegedly after consuming spurious liquor at two villages in East Midnapore district, a senior police officer said today.
