Bengal Hospital Covid Beds

Out of 10,313 beds for COVID-19 patients in government hospitals in West Bengal, 8,225 are vacant, according to new data the state is sharing from today to streamline information about availability of hospital beds and spare patients and their families the trauma of being turned away by hospitals.

West Bengal's premier facility, the Kolkata Medical College Hospital was today designated a COVID-19 hospital and will start functioning from May 7. The hospital has 500 beds to be assigned to both COVID and SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) patients. This is the 68th dedicated COVID-19 hospital in the state.
