Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday held a high-level meeting on the economic package announced by the centre to overcome economic crisis in the wake of coronavirus-induced lockdown, and stressed on the need to promote clusters of agro based products such as Makhana, Shahi Litchi and mango among others.

The Congress Party today claimed that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led UPA government had provided Rs 2 lakh crore to fund development in Bihar.

In the run up to next month's Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have been exchanging volleys over financial aid packages to the state.

As per the proposal, the state electricity boards of Jharkhand, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh would be allowed to convert their outstanding loans till March 2013 into bonds as part of an amendment to the discom debt restructuring package.
