INDIA bloc candidate and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur today won the Dehra assembly bypoll in Himachal Pradesh while the alliance's AAP secured the Jalandhar West seat and Trinamool Congress took two in West Bengal.

Chirag Paswan, whose party LJP (Ram Vilas) stunned in this election by winning all the five seats it contested as part of the NDA alliance in Bihar, is set to become a minister in the third Narendra Modi government, sources have said.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Tuesday won the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, where he defeated the nearest RJD rival by over 1.70 lakh votes, the Election Commission said.

Janata Dal United (JDU) chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has become the talk of the town after the opposition INDIA alliance defied exit polls and seem set to win 231 seats, just 31 short of the halfway mark needed to form the government.

This was one of the tougher phases for the BJP in 2019 as it could win just 44% of the seats on offer.
