Bihar Schoolgirls Attack

The NHRC has sent a notice to the Bihar government and DGP in connection with over 30 girl students being beaten up by a mob after they protested against lewd comments on a wall allegedly written by boys of a neighbouring school in Supaul district.

Nine boys and a parent have been arrested for the horrific attack on 34 girls at a residential school in Bihar - a crime over which the Supreme Court cited concern today. All the boys are minors and allegedly were part of a mob that broke into the school in Saupaul, 250 km from Patna, and targeted teachers and students.

Bihar Lawmaker Raj Ballabh Yadav, accused of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl, met Lalu Yadav, chief of the ruling RJD in Patna today. Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear the Bihar government's petition against the bail granted to him by the Patna High Court.
