India Meteorological Department on Friday warned of a likely heatwave in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for the next five days. It also forecasted a heatwave in states like Madhya Pradesh and Bihar for the next four days.

Parts of West Bengal and Bihar may not get much relief from the scorching heat over the next three days, the weather office has predicted.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the district administrations have been directed to make elaborate arrangements amid the forecast of heat wave conditions in the state.

In the aftermath of cyclonic storm Yaas, the weather department had forecast heavy rains in some parts of Bihar and waterlogging in low-lying areas. The Darbhanga medical college witnessed flooding.
